Utah CDL Medical Certification Requirements
Utah CDL medical requirements depend on the driver’s operating category, state licensing record and applicable federal medical standards.
Separate Utah CDL licensing and medical qualification
Utah DLD handles CDL applications, self-certification and license records. FMCSA standards govern many aspects of commercial-driver physical qualification. Holding one document does not replace obligations associated with the other.
Choose the correct self-certification category
Utah describes non-excepted and excepted interstate/intrastate classifications, with important differences in certificate and restriction requirements. Interstate commerce includes some transportation connected with out-of-state shipments even if a route segment stays within Utah.
Medical Examiner's Certificate and current data reporting
Qualifying drivers must follow current medical certification procedures, and the electronic National Registry II transition changed what proof is sufficient after October 12, 2026. Check Utah’s current CDL guidance and confirm the status shown in your license record.
Plan your St. George exam
Bring identification, medications and condition-specific records. Contact DOTSTG at (435) 674-5147 to confirm examination appointment details and fees.
